8 days late | Newborn Photography Session ~ Hamden, CT
Today’s the day! I thought, as my due date for my first baby came up on the calendar. My bags were packed, her room was ready and my husband and I were so ready to meet her. Then the day passed and she stayed tucked inside, warm and cozy. Disappointed but still hopeful, I greeted each new day with that same thought, “today’s the day!”
Of course, my baby had other plans. Why would she leave her womb when I was feeding her 20 brownies a day! (No kidding, I was a complete whale by the time she was born.) But on that 8th day past her due date, she finally arrived at a whopping 9lbs 15 oz (remember those brownies.)
This family had to wait until that 8th day to meet their new baby girl too. But she arrived perfect in every way at 8 lbs 7 oz and 20 inches, and they couldn’t be happier to have her join their lives.
All tucked in for her newborn photography session, little miss here was happy to sleep through her entire session. She even invited some friends to join her.
Dad was so exhausted from the past several days that he had trouble keeping his eyes open. But here, with his baby daughter in his arms, I think he could have protected and held her for days on end.
Not sure if she was missing Mommy here, or just thinking about all of that growing she has to do, but seeing her simple reflection here makes you want to clear all of her troubles away.
Getting a 3-year-old to cooperate on his sister’s photoshoot isn’t an easy task. But when I saw this tender expression, I captured it quickly. He doesn’t know it yet, but one day, she’s going to be his best friend.
So vibrant and beautiful, with adorable rolls and pink toes.
I just love how newborns fold themselves into the positions that they slept in while still inside their mother’s wombs.
And finally a private moment between Mom, Dad and their new baby girl. So much love in this family photograph.
