Maternity Portraits Beneath Blooming Cherry Blossoms

These incredibly sweet parents-to-be were so excited to be welcoming their little one, and Mom happened to be blossoming right around the same time that the flowers outside were. It was a perfect opportunity to create spring maternity photos in Manchester CT highlighting one of my favorite symbolic photo sessions: a maternity session set in the season of new birth.

To capture the beauty of the springtime, we held this couple’s session at a local park, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out! We managed to have their session just as the cherry blossoms were at their peak, so naturally, we wanted to take many of Mom’s photos within these gorgeous trees. The blossoms raining down around Mom made for the perfect springtime maternity portraits.

We were also fortunate enough to spot some beautiful daffodils in their bright bloom, and these were perfect accents for these garden flower maternity photos. As stunning as Mom is on her own, I’m so enamored with the portraits of her and Dad together. The excitement for their new baby is palpable, and their smiles together are so precious!

Of course, as is often the case in early spring, it wasn’t as warm outside as it looked. Mom and I were absolutely freezing throughout the session! We practically power-walked through the park to get all the shots we wanted, and we walked so quickly that by the end of the session, Mom and I both had cramps in our feet. I have to say, though, that after seeing the finished portraits and seeing how much Mom and Dad loved them, it was all worth it.
