Levi ~ In-studio Lifestyle Newborn Photos

When this wonderful mom and I sat down to design their upcoming newborn and family photography session during her consultation, she was concerned that her two-year-old daughter Lana wouldn’t do well during the family portion of their session. So, she opted to go the lifestyle route, which just means more candid photos and fewer posed portraits. Mom felt like having Lana on a bed with her baby brother would be much easier for the energetic toddler. But contrary to Mom’s concerns, Lana did so great for her age. I’ve found that oftentimes young ones tend to behave better – at least for a bit – with someone new than they might for Mom or Dad. Because of her age, she did get “done” with the entire process rather quickly, but because Mom and Dad could pile on the bed with her, it was more like a game. She did fantastically, and it was so much fun to photograph them! We got some great candid photos of the laughter and craziness, and I could really highlight Lana’s budding personality while getting some sibling shots as well.

After the family portion of the newborn photography session was complete, Lana and Dad left to go about their regularly scheduled activities while Mom and I just finished up with Levi. I wanted to make sure to get all of those adorable newborn details that parents love so much. He had the cutest little natural mohawk and was a dream to work with. We kept things super simple so his photographs would match Lana’s, and everything turned out beautiful. Even with two very young ones, I would say this family lifestyle shoot was a huge success! Welcome home, baby Levi!
