Making Sure Momma Looks Good | Family Photographer Greater Hartford CT Area
My Mother-in-Law has this one photo of herself from 50 years ago that she loves. Truth be told, the photo itself is a bit out of focus and very grainy. But she has held on to that photo for half a century because she looks good in it. She was young and had a body like Sophia Loren. And she wants to be able to look back and show her family just what she was like in her hay day.
I’m the same. I have kept this stupid calendar picture of myself in a bikini since college (which was over 20 years ago at this point). Why? Because I wanted to be able to show my kids how good I looked way back when. I’ve done this too! Just to prove to them that Mommy didn’t always have what they affectionately call my “crumbly” tummy.
I know you’ve heard “Mom, get in the picture.” Then you find yourself thinking you look a mess or the photo would be better without you in it. So you playfully decline and end up not being in any of the Christmas or other fun family pictures. Well, I’m NOT going to call you out on the carpet. Heck no!
We all want to look our best in pictures. Honestly, I find that if the Mom doesn’t like how she looks in an image, she doesn’t want it. The rest of the family could look amazing, but all she will see is her pooch or slight double chin or whatever. And I don’t blame her one bit. No one would want to walk by a photo in their home every day that made them feel bad about themselves.
Well, honey, that’s where I come in! One of my main goals and services is to make sure that Mom looks good. Whether it is subtle posing changes, lighting or a little Photoshop magic, I craft every image so that Mom can smile when she sees it. I can add eyelashes, fix make-up, reduce pooches, widdle waistlines, color roots, and do so many other little tweaks that just make a person look more refreshed. I can’t make her 50 pounds lighter, but that would be ridiculous anyway. The small changes I make are things you wouldn’t even notice, but they all come together and make you look like the person you remember. And more importantly, in 50 years, they’ll be photos that you proudly pull out to show off to your family.
Sound good to you? Well, we should chat! Give me a quick call or email and I’ll tell you all about it.
This is a picture of my sister and me at Cherub’s baptism. The image on the left has been edited and the image on the right hasn’t. See what I mean! Like a day in the spa!
