One-Year-Old Milestone Session: A Boy Adventurer ~ Tristan

One-year milestone portrait sessions are among my favorite photo sessions every time. Not only are one-year-olds so much fun to be around, but they’re especially exciting for me because most of my one-year-olds are babies who I had the pleasure of photography in their newborn days too. It’s such a treat to meet back up with these families a year later to see how much their baby has grown and to see the incredible little personality their baby has begun to develop during their one year old milestone session.

In Tristan’s case, I was blown away by how big he seems to have gotten since his newborn photos. It was amazing to see how mobile and independent he is today. He’s a curious little explorer who’s fascinated by the world around him, and I think we could all learn a lesson from Tristan’s pure and joyful wonder!

He’s also so sweetly thoughtful and introspective. He doesn’t hand out smiles to everyone, and he gave me some pensive and coy looks, but when he’s around his daddy, he absolutely lights up! Once I cracked that code, we were able to snap plenty of portraits of Tristan’s incredible smile.

Outdoor Toddler Photoshoot

I always particularly enjoy an outdoor toddler photoshoot because we can capture so much more of their personality by just letting them enjoy their surroundings and capturing the special moments. And as far as a one-year-old milestone session for a boy goes, especially a boy who loves adventure as much as Tristan, those adorable overalls were on-point!

Tristan’s photoshoot was made even more special because on top of his family portraits with Mom and Dad, we were able to get a few portraits with his beloved grandmother too! She’s such an important part of this little guy’s life so I was delighted that we were able to pay homage to that relationship in his one-year photos.
