Simple Newborn Pictures

In my many years as a newborn photographer, I can say from experience that there’s a wide range of reactions siblings have to their newborn brothers or sisters. Who can blame them? Suddenly there’s this whole new person in their life who’s so tiny and looks so different from all the adults and kids they’ve ever met! Some kids take time to get to know their little siblings, but others fall in love with them from day one. For baby Lucia’s big brother Leo, it was clearly the latter!

3 Year Old and Newborn

Photographing a 3-year-old and newborn together can be tricky, but these two were the perfect pair. Leo is so in love with his baby sister that he couldn’t help but smile every time he looked at her. He was so much fun to pose with Lucia, and the expression on his face as he holds her and looks down at her is one that I won’t soon forget.

It was easy to see where these two sweet kids get their positive temperaments because Mom and Dad were both such a joy to work with! They actually met in Portugal, where Dad was living when Mom took a trip to visit family there. The two became inseparable and Dad moved to the US when they decided to get married, but they make sure to still visit Portugal often even as their precious family grows.

For the most part, we opted for feminine and simple newborn pictures because let’s face it, Lucia doesn’t need any help to make her beauty shine. But we did make sure to incorporate one particular element that’s important to Dad: soccer (or football as the rest of the world calls it). Dad is a talented football player who’s sure to pass along that passion to his kids, so the photo of Dad in his jersey holding Lucia has special significance to the family.
