100 days old photo session

Happy 100th, Aiden! Well, happy 100th day that is. In lieu of a newborn photoshoot, this family chose to do a session celebrating Aiden’s 100th day per their cultural tradition. The celebration of a baby’s 100th day started long ago in Asian cultures as a way to protect an infant’s health. This celebration was often revered with prayers of gratitude and served as a celebration for the new parents. Aiden’s parents had “newborn” style photos taken at this same age for Aiden’s older brother, Ian, so they wanted to do the same thing for their second son. 

Aiden was perfectly content throughout the entire session; although, he was completely awake, which was new to me. But, I just did exactly what I would do with a newborn baby. Of course, he weighed about 18 lbs., so it was much more of a workout! Nevertheless, he was a joy, and the session was done within an hour.

Aiden’s yellow polka-dotted bow tie was downright precious. Judging by the giant grin he was wearing, even he thought so. He looked like such a dapper little guy. Of course in keeping with the “newborn” style, we did strip it down some. Aiden looked so precious in his slate blue swaddle among a nest of acorns and foliage. The rich brown hue of his eyes was complimented so well with the earthy natural tones.

I thoroughly enjoyed this 100 Days Old session! It was fun to get a challenging opportunity to give something I’m well versed at a new spin. I look forward to offering more photo sessions like this in the future. And for the first time doing it, I’d give myself a 100/100!
