Turning One and Full of Fun ~ Carolina

One of my favorite parts of photographing one-year-olds is seeing how much they’ve grown so quickly. Mom and Dad have been watching their baby grow and change on a daily basis, but when they see their almost-toddler in print, it’s always touching to see how proud they are of the way their child is growing up.

That was absolutely true with lovely little Carolina. Mom and Dad were beyond excited to capture their baby’s first birthday and to commemorate this special time in her life. There was one hitch, though: thanks to scheduling conflicts and medical needs, we had to schedule Carolina’s photoshoot in the middle of the afternoon. This time of day tends to have overly harsh lighting, so it’s not the best for photography.

Autumn One-Year Portraits

We were determined to make Carolina’s session successful, though, and I’d say that we did! The gold light shining through the fall leaves gave everything an amazingly warm glow and truly capture the coziness we all associate with autumn. Between the stunning lighting and the beautiful bond among this little family, it turned out to be a truly magical session.

One-Year Old Cake Smash Session

Of course, we couldn’t wrap up a one-year-old’s photo session without a cake smash, so we all headed to my studio for the fun tradition. Carolina loved smashing her cake and with the delicate, feminine props and details, her pictures turned out to be wonderful.

From start to finish, working with Carolina and her family was an absolute delight and I can’t wait to continue working with them and watching Carolina grow in the years to come.
