Mackenzie ~ Baby 1 Year Old Photos

Is this not just the happiest little blue-eyed beauty you’ve ever seen?! I enjoyed this fun-loving family so much, and I’m glad they went with an outdoor session. It fit their personality perfectly!

Mackenzie just turned one year old, and her Grandma Joann decided to gift her son’s family with a milestone photography session to capture this special time in their lives. (In her experience, she knows how fast these early years fly by.) They drove up to see me, and we spent a lovely morning at a gorgeous park, complete with a serene little pond covered in lily pads. 

As luck would have it, it was misting when we began. Knowing that’s not ideal for a toddler, we took our first few family portraits beneath a canopy of trees. Thankfully, it cleared up and gave us great light for our session!

This is a hard age for taking photos because most toddlers are into doing their own thing. After all, how could you just sit still smiling at a camera when there’s so much to explore?! For one-year-olds, I typically let them feel like they have the reigns and snap photos as they explore, waiting for those perfect moments when we can sneak in a pose and a direct smile. 

Like most kiddos, Mackenzie is quite the explorer, but she was happy for most of her session and even showed off some great smiles. She did amazingly well! Most of that can probably be attributed to Mom and Dad who had fun playing with her. It’s hard to frown when Dad covers you in warm hugs and Mom kisses your rosy cheeks. This family of three was incredibly photogenic!
