Chloe ~ Black and White Newborn Session
This petite little beauty was made her appearance into the world much earlier than anticipated. At 3.5 pounds, 17 inches long, and arriving seven weeks early, Chloe is the most special gift her parents can imagine. She is absolutely perfect, and although she is still seeing the doctors often to make sure she is growing the way she should, this happy baby is eating and putting on the weight like a champ!
Because she decided to try to see the world a little earlier, we had to wait a few weeks to take Chloe’s newborn photos. I knew her sweet face would be gracing my studio soon, and I was counting down the days until I could finally meet her! When the day finally came, this little girl just melted my heart. She is so beautiful.
Chloe’s parents really like black and white photos and love to decorate their walls with them. It’s fun when parents have unique requests or themes in mind for their session. Shooting in black and white is so different than in color – as a photographer, you have to use different eyes to make sure baby doesn’t blur into the background and utilize the light correctly to emphasize certain elements. Of course, I wanted to emphasize Chloe’s sweet face and tiny features: the little dimples and wrinkles, her eyelashes, her precious fingers. It’s not often that I get requests for so many black and white photos. I love how Chloe’s portraits turned out, and this was such a treat for me!
But we also kept some in color to show Chloe’s healthy complexion. Because this newborn stage goes by so fast, I wanted to make sure they have a few photos to look back on that reflect all of their little one in both B&W and color.
This session was a gift from a close family friend that wanted to do something extra special for them, and I could not have been more grateful that they found me! Welcome home, little one.
Many parents believe that they have to miss out on getting beautiful newborn photographs when their baby is born prematurely and has to stay in the NICU for an extended period of time. NOT TRUE! Chloe was almost a full 12 weeks old when we did her photographs and they turned out amazing!
