Pregnancy is such a sweet stage in a family’s life. In eager anticipation, couples wonder what this new little one will be like. Sonograms aren’t enough to appease our curiosity when it comes to the little miracle kicking away in there. Doing a maternity shoot is a great way to capture that wonderful waiting period and show the excitement you felt leading up to baby’s arrival.
I also love showing expecting mothers how naturally lovely they are during pregnancy. It can be difficult to remember when you feel like you swallowed a watermelon, but I want to show these mamas just how much they glow. And I’m proud to say that upon seeing the photos, most of them do admit that they look beautiful. I’ve been through the ups and downs of pregnancy, too, so I want to give my expecting mothers something they feel proud of to remember this fleeting stage.
For this woodsy outdoor session, Meera and her husband Arkadeep were so excited about their growing baby boy. They wanted a maternity shoot that would help them remember how special this time of preparation was for them. They chose an outdoor session in a beautiful, secluded spot, and were very excited about creating photographs in the water.
Arkadeep was so attentive and made sure to help his wife navigate some of the steep paths as we found our way to my favorite spots to photograph. This shoot wasn’t easy – we battled the mosquitos and waded into the frigid water – but it was certainly worth it to create a few dramatic photographs for them. Meera shimmied in and out of gowns behind our make-shift dressing screen so we could create several looks for her. She really did amazing – one tough mama for sure!
Do you have a vision for your own maternity shoot? I’d love to hear about it! Message me to get in touch.
