Being a photographer that specializes in maternity and newborn, I find that new life is always something that I am in awe of. When I get to document these milestones in a new parent’s life, it just makes me grateful for the opportunity to do what I love.

Golden Hour Maternity Photographs

This sweet family came to me looking to document this special time in their family, and I adored their maternity session so much. If you ever wonder why I schedule pictures at certain times, just take a peek at this one. Golden hour is about an hour before sunset and produces amazing light if you know how to manipulate it properly. I do not mean to toot my own horn, but this session was so beautiful and perfect and that’s many thanks to the light!

Mama also chose the perfect gown from my maternity gown collection, a long rust-colored gown, and for a few photographs, we added a bohemian robe that she had draped over her shoulders. When you have a bold look for one participant in the photoshoot, it’s always a smart idea to pair that with a neutral on the others in the pictures. As you can see, that combination works really well!

During the planning phase of this session, this sweet mama knew that she wanted to capture the fall colors so even though it was still really warm out, we wanted to do their session at sunset to capture all of the beautiful yellows, oranges, and reds that sunset provides. The location boasted the fall long grass and sweeping views. As the sunset, the color of the light turned from golden to orange to deep red. These colors came straight out of the camera too (no photoshop enhancements!) And she and her hubby looked amazing!
