2020 was a curveball for all of us, but it was even more of a rollercoaster for expecting parents. So many moms and dads found themselves changing plans or making adjustments, and Jalissa’s family was no exception.

Jalissa’s mom reached out to me in the middle of 2020, thrilled to be expecting her second daughter and eager to capture the special time with a maternity photo shoot. Of course, 2020 has a way of turning everything on its head. Between the COVID-19 pandemic, power outages, and other unforeseeable events, we were unfortunately never able to get a date on the schedule for her maternity photos.

Like all great mothers, though, Mom stayed hopeful – she was determined to have me photograph her new baby girl. This time, our schedules finally aligned and I’m so glad they did!

Sleepy Feminine Newborn Photos

Baby Jalissa is an absolute beauty and she was a joy to photograph. At eight days old, Jalissa was still trying to get the sleep she needed for her little body to grow, so she slept peacefully during the entire newborn session. I did manage to catch an adorable sleepy smile, though, and it’s one of my favorite shots out of the bunch!

Throughout our session, it was clear that six-year-old Mayra was thrilled to take on her new role as Jalissa’s big sister. She was a great helper to everyone and she was such a natural in front of the camera, too. It was a joy to watch her interact with her baby sister, and I can see that Jalissa has a true friend and role model in her life already.

Between the feminine, flowery sets and the photos of the whole family, Mom and Dad were thrilled with how their photos turned out, and I have to say that I was too!
