Emmett ~ Newborn Photography Session – Salem, CT

I loved having the honor of capturing this amazing family’s newborn photos. They are a moving military family, and at the end of their tour here in Connecticut, they are headed down to Washington, DC. Dad is a Navy submariner, and Mom is an artist. This shoot was a great opportunity to tell him ‘thank you’ for his service!

The birth of this handsome little guy was an exciting new change for their whole family. Emmett is a much-hoped-for blessing, and I couldn’t be happier to celebrate his birth with them. Emmett has two super sweet older teenage sisters who were so excited to play with him during the session. They already love their baby brother so much, and Mom and Dad have two wonderful helpers on their hands. Emmett is one very adored baby boy. 

After his long-awaited birth, I wanted to make sure I created a beautiful collection of photos that commemorate this wonderful occasion. We started with his newborn photos. We did several simple classic ones. I love the one where he is lying there sleeping, swaddled in all white—it really shows off his little features and precious fingers. They love the richer tones, too, so we incorporated lots of deep blues, gray and earthy browns. He snoozed his way through every pose. He couldn’t have looked cuter than in the starry night boat set. I loved capturing that sweet little face of his.

After his time in the spotlight, we got a few family photos, too! Emmett even woke up just a little for these, giving us what looked like a little smile. It’s clear that he already knows who his family is and feels so content and relaxed in their arms.
