Personal Newborn Baby Photography ~ Getting What You Want | Glastonbury CT
Meet Miss Ripley. She is going to grow up as free-spirited as they come. And all because Mom and Dad like to do things a bit different and with a bit more personality than most people. You can see this in their custom designed wedding bands, their yearly, comical Christmas card, and now here in some of their baby girl’s first photographs. When they first spoke with me about this session, I let them know that I was happy to follow their lead and create images that would be personal and special to them.
As most people who have pets will tell you, their animals are their first children. So Mom and Dad thought it only fitting for their first “baby” to greet his new sister with a kiss.
So many of their friends and loved ones signed this famous Dr. Seuess book for the couple’s new daughter. And she was so excited, she fell asleep reading it.
Many baby’s will mimic your mouth movements when they are watching you intently. But seeing Dad and his daughter smiling back at each other isn’t just nature happening, it’s the beginning of their love for each other.
Somebody was very interested in her photography session, and just wouldn’t sleep! But we rolled with it. At 8 lbs, 10.8 oz and 20 inches long, she almost didn’t fit in my bowl. Note to self. . . gotta get a bigger bowl.
Momma has been so calm both times I’ve photographed her. The last time she was 38 weeks pregnant with this little chubber and I had her wading in Roaring Brook at Cotton Hollow. But nothing seems to shake her serene demeanor. You can see how blessed she feels to be holding her sweet baby girl and just cooing to her.
When Miss Ripley finally nodded off, we tucked her in all snug with a teddy bear and watched her sleep. You could spend hours counting her gorgeous eyelashes.
We did do several classic poses during their newborn photo session. This classic “tushy-up” pose highlights all that is perfect about a newborn with her little rolls, tiny toes, squishy lips, and soft skin.
So comfortable in Daddy’s arms with Momma close by. I’m so glad I was able to capture this personal moment with their newborn baby through photography. These photos will be treasured heirlooms for generations past, present and future.
