Maternity and Newborn Portraits Rich with Color ~ Vaishnavi

As every parent can attest, the first weeks and months of your newborn baby’s life are a whirlwind. You’re trying to recover from childbirth while giving your baby the constant care they need and getting to know them. When you have a toddler at home to boot, it makes everything that much more chaotic. Even as a professional maternity and newborn photographer, I know that a photo session isn’t always a priority during this time, but when parents do take time out for family portraits, I make sure to make them as special as possible.

This sweet and kind Mom and Dad didn’t do maternity or newborn photos when their little boy was first born, but when they found out they would be welcoming their second child, they made sure not to miss the opportunity. They wanted to capture the entire journey with maternity portraits and newborn photos, and I couldn’t wait to create the gorgeous and colorful pictures they wanted.

For both the maternity and newborn photos, we made sure to incorporate the rich colors Mom loves, and I’m thrilled with how they turned out. Mom’s maternity photo with the reflective water is particularly stunning.

We made sure to get portraits with this entire growing family together, but truth be told, Vaishnavi’s big brother wasn’t too interested in taking photos, so we focused on little Vaishnavi for most of her newborn session. I had so much fun getting creative in working with a variety of vibrant photos, and the finished portraits have such a warm, cozy air to them, especially with little Vaishnavi sleeping so soundly in them.

We also made certain to feature this family’s Indian heritage in both their maternity photos and newborn photos. I especially love the portrait of Vaishnavi in traditional Indian fabrics and jewelry, and I know it will hold a special place in the family’s heart as their little girl grows up.
