Zane ~ Second Child Newborn Photo Session

Sometimes life doesn’t go quite the way we think it should. We make so many grand plans only to get stuck at roadblocks we didn’t even know existed. I know that family planning seems that way for many couples. Adoptions don’t go through, pregnancies don’t go the way we had hoped, or we go years looking for two magical red lines on a stick. BUT, sometimes the hardest circumstances and longest waits bring the greatest joy when a gift or little miracle does arrive in some surprising form.

A Sweet Surprise

I’ve known this special couple for a few years. She works with her family’s business, Baribault Jewelers, and he works hard as a restauranteur (check out Rooftop 120 and newly-opened Marlborough Tavern!). I have had the extreme pleasure of photographing their oldest, Eva, as she’s transformed from a snuggly newborn into a sweet toddler, fully of personality. They were hoping for more children, but doctors originally said it wasn’t possible without intervention. Little did the doctors know, God had big plans for this family and surprised them with baby Zane, the most precious bundle of joy!

Their newborn session (doubling as a family shoot) was so much fun! Mom and Dad are so in love, and because of their journey, they deeply appreciate the gifts that are their children. We did several image styles so they would have plenty of memoirs to choose from. For her maternity session, we did a light-filled outdoor shoot. I love the woodsy feel and the warm sunlight streaming through the trees like a kaleidoscope. After baby Zane’s arrival, we did some simple, neutral family portraits, great for displaying on the walls in their home. We also did a few cuddling sibling shots, and then the rest were of Little Man himself. I really like how the natural wood photo turned out—it really highlights all of his little newborn features that parents want to remember forever. See how they turned out below!
