Around two years ago, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a beautiful little family for their daughter’s first birthday. Mom and Dad had such a sweet dynamic with baby Penelope, and I couldn’t help but hope that I would be able to work with them again.

Family of Four Photographs

Recently, my wish came true. Mom and Dad found out that their family of three would soon be a family of four, so they reached out to me right away to save a spot in my schedule for their highly-anticipated baby boy.

When it came time for Wesley’s newborn baby portraits, it was such a joy to see how much the family had grown. Penelope is now an active and sweetly curious little girl, and while she had a great time exploring and learning, she did a fantastic job posing for her photos too.

Baby Wesley was the star of the show, but he’d never know it because I don’t believe his eyes opened the entire time. He let us carry him from photo to photo, and even to a cozy moonlight scene, without interrupting his nap. We did manage to snap a few preciously subtle smiles, though, so it looks like he was enjoying a few nice dreams along the way.

One of my favorite shots has to be the portrait of Mom and Wesley. You can see the pure love and peacefulness on her face as Wesley just relishes being close to her, and it’s clear that they already have a wonderful bond. 

Thanks to the entire family, Wesley’s newborn photos turned out beautifully. Many of the pictures now grace their home on a huge portrait wall they created, and I’m proud to know that they’ll cherish these memories as Wesley and Penelope grow.
