The Best Place to Get Your Child’s Ears Pierced | Children Photographer Rocky Hill, Connecticut

First-Time-Ear-Piercing

When you and your child decide that you are ready to get their ears pierced, you may have visions of a black-lipstick wearing, gum-popping girl named Candy with a piercing gun at the local mall kiosk. I know I did. This is not an experience I was comfortable with, so I did a bit of digging and found something perfect!

My pediatrician’s office, Rocky Hill Pediatrics, offers ear piercing as a service for their clients only. Definitely, check with your child’s pediatrician because they probably offer this same service. The price is very comparable to what you would pay at the mall, and I knew that we would receive the best care possible.

Dr. Schwab does this service and her bedside manner is somewhere between that of Cinderella and Doc McStuffins, so Princess was happy throughout the entire event. After cleaning her ears and marking them with a washable marker, I was given the final approval over the placement of my child’s earrings. How wonderful! You see the angle of the piercing on my own left ear is a bit off. Consequently, several of my most favorite dangly earrings turn out on that ear when I wear them. Drives me nuts! So my final approval of the placement meant that my Princess would never have that problem.

The office provides three choices of sterilized earring studs; gold balls, silver balls, and diamond studs with a gold surround. Since the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, Princess, of course, chose the diamond earring. Not sure if they are real diamonds, but they sure do sparkle! The piercing itself was quick, although she does do one ear at a time. But my most sensitive child did not cry at all and was so pleased with the results that she beamed for a week.

On a side note; I did look into what the mall kiosk had to offer and was quoted $50 for similar earrings and $15 for the piercing itself. My pediatrician charged $65 for the entire service, including the earrings. So it really comes down to what kind of service experience you’re looking for.  As I pride myself on always giving my customers Nordstrom’s-style service, I wanted the same for my Princess during this most important event.

So if you are ready to get your child’s ears pierced, I highly recommend getting your pediatrician to do it. But no matter where you end up getting it done, Bring Your Camera! This is an event that your child will remember if they are old enough. Having a photograph to look back on will make this memory a treasure.

Rocky Hill Pediatrics is located at 1084 Cromwell Avenue in Rocky Hill, CT and they can be reached at (860) 721-7561.
