Alexander ~ Where the Wild Things Are Cake Smash

This is one of my FAVORITE photography sets, and boy, did Alex play his part in the shoot. What a handsome little prince he was!

Grandma wanted to give her son and his family the gift of a photography session to celebrate their grandson’s first birthday. Together, they decided on The Wild Things set inspired by the beloved classic children’s book Where the Wild Things Are. Sure enough, he loved every minute of it!

But before we got too messy with the smash cake, we captured some timeless family photographs of the three of them together. I love their color combination of blue, teal, coral, and cream! What a pretty color pallet that worked well with the darker backdrop. They all looked so great together. Then it was time to get some more formal individuals of Alex as well. He was a little hesitant, but he played along like a trooper, and we got some pretty cute ones of the big birthday boy!

After the family and individual photos, we hopped right into the themed photos. Alex couldn’t have been happier for the change of scenery (literally)! This little one-year-old was all smiles as he donned his stylish suspenders and gold crown and explored the intriguing props around the set like a true wild thing. He waved his arms high in the air and displayed his sweet personality for all to see.

There was so much for him to examine on the set that we didn’t even have to chase him down (as some toddlers love to escape every chance they get). Once he saw his chocolate birthday cake, his smile grew, and his handsome dark brown eyes lit up. Just look at that bowtie underneath his little grin! I’ve never seen anything cuter.
