Jacob is One – 1 year old photography milestone session

For this adorable one-year session, Jacob’s mom wanted to capture him at this loveable toddler age—because what parent wouldn’t?! One-year-olds have a way of making even the most stoic personalities erupt in laughter. Their charming clumsiness and precarious moves make us a little nervous, but they also fill our hearts with joy. Their love of life and constant curiosity brings out the little kid in us, too. This stage is truly magical, and I love capturing it!

As you know, one-year-olds are also constantly on the move, so getting posed photos can be a little challenge. Thankfully, between years of capturing hundreds of little ones in the studio as well as my own crazy kiddos, I’ve learned a few tried-and-true tactics. In the end, we finally got a few of Jacob sitting. But of course, some of the cutest photos were of him crawling, standing and even walking (which he just started doing a few days earlier!). 

He was a little serious in the beginning as he checked out the studio and props. He seemed unsure of what he was supposed to do and studied me and my camera inquisitively, but once the bubbles came out (as well as a few beloved items to play with from his mom’s purse) he was all smiles and ready to play. I had so much fun with this little guy. Once he got the hang of it, he even got excited as we changed poses and props—he was ready to see what fun things the next group of pictures would have in store for him.
