A Nature-Loving Family’s Maternity and Newborn Photos ~ Carter

This incredibly sweet couple reached out to me when they were expecting their beautiful baby boy, wanting to showcase the full “belly to baby” journey with maternity and newborn photos. They live over an hour away, but they fell in love with my work and knew that I was the perfect fit for the portraits they wanted, and I’m thrilled that they did!

For their maternity photo session, we met up at a gorgeous park nearby that was full of idyllic floral scenery. These two were absolutely glowing with excitement about their baby, and I relished being able to capture that joy on camera.

Big Baby Newborn Boy Photo Shoot

I could tell from Mom’s belly at her maternity session that baby Carter was going to be a big guy from the start. I would never have guessed how big, though: he entered the world at over 10 pounds! I was looking forward to meeting him at their newborn session.

Wanting to get plenty of classics for this adorable big baby, his newborn boy photoshoot had all the essentials: a blue color palette, fuzzy friends, and plenty of sleepy poses that make for the cutest newborn photos. We also made sure to incorporate some artistic images that highlighted this family’s love of nature, including baby Carter on a giant leaf and, a forever favorite of mine, little Carter cradled on an elephant’s trunk.

Throughout the newborn photo session, it was clear that Carter was sleepy and needed to rest his little eyes, but he had a serious case of FOMO and wanted to be involved in all the action! We eventually convinced him to snooze, but every parent loves a precious wide-eyed portrait of their baby, and I was glad we were able to get one for this delightful family.
