Butterfly Cake Smash Pictures

It’s always fun to celebrate a baby’s first birthday – the first in a lifetime full of special days, parties, and gatherings with loved ones. But we all know that at this age, babies don’t understand much of what’s going on. They love the fun of the party, but when they get gifts, they tend to only play with them for a short while before moving on as they’re growing so quickly.

So for baby Reign’s first birthday, her grandmother wanted to give her and her family a gift that they could truly enjoy in the long term: a one year photo session, complete with the ever-popular cake smash. I was delighted to be able to do the honors!

Reign is such a happy, bubbly, and social little girl, so her photo session was a gift for all of us. She truly rocked her adorable pink jumpsuit, and it was easy to get her to show it off.

One Year Old Photo Session

For most of the session, we opted for simple and clean sets so that little Reign could truly shine, and shine she did! I made sure to highlight all the skills that she’s learned so quickly – sitting, crawling, walking, this girl does it all!

Then it was time for the part of the session we were all excited for (including Reign): the cake smash. Reign knew exactly what to do, and she dug into that cake like an absolute pro. She had so much fun that when the cake was gone, she wanted more! She was sure to take enough pauses that we were able to get plenty of adorable cake smash photos, though.

One of my favorite features of this photo session was a background element that Mom specifically requested: purple butterflies. They added so much to the aesthetic and I was glad to be able to incorporate a look that meant so much to Reign’s family. After this fun session, Reign was gifted an album by her doting grandmother to make sure she can always look back on these photos fondly.
