Ishaan ~ Cozy Newborn Session

If I had to sum up this precious newborn and family session in one word, it would be “sweet.” Everything about it was just lovely. Baby Ishaan was born in late fall this year, so what a joy it was to create setups that were all warm and cozy for his upcoming session. 

Speaking of warm – Ishaan’s parents have the warmest, most genuine hearts. Everything about them is so authentic. I truly loved working with them. They wanted most of the session to feature their brand-new baby boy, but we got a few of Mom and Dad in there, too.

Classic & Cozy

We kept the session pretty simple and classic: lots of gray, navy, and olive. But I love incorporating seasonal details in each newborn’s session to symbolize the time of year they were born. For Ishaan’s session, I used some fluffy faux fur for texture as well as a few evergreen sprigs and pinecones (nowhere near baby, of course, since they’re so pointy). I would have to say, one of my favorite photos is of Ishaan snoozing in the center of a holiday wreath. What an incredible early gift for this family!

To keep the theme going, Ishaan slept soundly in a tiny doll bed perched on some logs. In another, he held his teddy bear close. He was the easiest baby! He barely made a peep. I think the coziness of the studio help lull him to sleep throughout the shoot, which was perfect for getting all of those sweet detail shots of his little fingers, toes, and button nose. 

When it came time for Mom and Dad to jump in, they happily snuggled their little man. It was funny to see how he instantly relaxed even more into a deeper slumber as soon as he felt their arms. Although they’re new parents, it seems like they’ve got this newborn thing down pretty well!
