Penelope ~ Early Fall Family Session

Connecticut is just beautiful in the fall. Each year about this time, I am so thankful to live in a state with true autumns filled with crisp air and colorful trees. I love when families opt for outdoor sessions because I get to capture the essence of the season through photography, and the fresh air has a way of bringing both vitality and warmth to the images – just the combo you need for family portraits.

Time for an Update ~ Catching Up on Milestones

For this heartwarming session, Mom wanted an updated set of photographs of her family since her little one had just turned a year old recently. The months flew by so fast they hadn’t had and professional photographs taken since she was a newborn. Since we did the session early in the morning to stay away from nap time, there was a crisp chill in the air that made sweet Penelope extra energetic (which was perfect because keeping up with her helped us stay warm)! 

Penelope was in good spirits at first, but she was much more interested in exploring than having her photographs taken. (I guess she figured baby modeling wasn’t really her jam). They brought their beautiful dog along, too, and he did his best to keep her smiling, but soon she decided it was just too cold to do anything. Baby Penelope was over the whole process, but we got some great photos just in time (she is the boss, after all)! 

My favorite photos in all of these have to be the mother-daughter and father-daughter shots. They didn’t require much posing, and they beautifully portray her sweet bond with each of her parents as authentically as possible. It makes sense that she’s happiest when she’s playing with them. The dappled sunlight through the trees, glasslike pond, and rustic bridge provided the perfect backdrops for these lovely fall family portraits.
