Starting a family is such an exciting time for anyone, and from the moment I met this Mom and Dad, I could see that they were absolutely glowing with excitement! They couldn’t wait to meet their baby boy, so of course, we had to capture the precious memories of Mom’s pregnancy.

Sunset Maternity Photographs

We decided that the perfect setting for their maternity photographs was this gorgeous outdoor field at sunset. The beautiful scenery only served to accent these sweet parents-to-be, their love for each other, and their excitement for the upcoming adventure of parenthood.

Mom and Dad loved their maternity photos, so naturally, they were eager to get on the schedule for their newborn session as quickly as possible after little Mason finally arrived. As thrilled as they were to get Mason’s first portraits, though, they were still recovering from his birth and adjusting to the typical sleep-free lifestyle of new parenthood, so they completely forgot that they were supposed to be part of his photos. Oops! It happens to the best of us!

Sleepy Newborn Photos

Still, Mason made sure to make the session fantastic all by himself. We were able to capture so many sweet sleepy photos, but I was glad that we had a few shots of his gorgeous little eyes opening and watching the world too. Mom and Dad also opted for a 24-inch canvas print of their astronaut-in-training floating among the planets to hang in his space-themed bedroom.

Despite the fact that the family newborn photo session turned into a solo show, Mason’s parents were thrilled with his photos and they’re excitedly looking forward to coming back for their first family portraits when Mason gets older.
