It’s always so much fun when parents contact me about doing themed newborn sessions. I love hearing their ideas and putting together cute designs and sets for their nursery.
I was so excited that baby Gabriela could do her shoot at twenty days old. My favorite time to photograph newborns is during the third week of life because their bodies have put on a little fat but they still form into those precious womb-like poses. The sleepy smiles at this stage are the best! And sweet Gabriela did indeed have the cutest little cheeks. She was such a dream to photograph! Little One slept soundly through the majority of the session.
Mom had already decorated the baby’s room in a mermaid theme with purples and teals. So, I created lots of composites to decorate her room with. We did a few playful under the sea mermaid sets with whimsical colors and characters, and then we switched to some more neutral sets with delicate white shells – I really love the photos of her sleeping in the oversized clamshell. This was one of my favorite themes for a baby girl! It’s a great alternative to traditional pink – it’s still so pretty and feminine.
We also incorporated several family photos of the three of them. They even wore coordinating blue and teal outfits to match the mermaid theme. The Mom and Me photos were just so beautiful! Those will be so special to have as little Gabriela grows up – there’s nothing like the unique bond between a mother and her daughter. Their two dogs are beloved family members, so of course, they had to come to get pictures with their new sister. She definitely has two adoring fur siblings to protect her and give her extra snuggles, and I love how their photos came out!
Welcome home to this little cutie!
