Your baby’s first birthday is a major milestone for so many reasons. Of course, you’re celebrating your child’s birthday for the first time. Beyond this, though, you’re celebrating the first year of parenting your new baby: the lessons, the challenges, the victories, and the experience of watching your tiny infant grow and learn before your eyes.

Little Maskim’s mom was thrilled when her son’s first birthday rolled around, and she was excited to capture this special moment for both of them. I, for one, was excited too because I was getting the opportunity to work with this delightful family once again.

I had first met Maskim for his newborn session. He was adorably chubby and cuddly, and he slept so contently through the entire photoshoot. After such a great experience the first time, I was more than ready to capture Mom and Maskim’s beautiful bond on Maskim’s first birthday.

When it came time for the mom and baby photoshoot, it was amazing to see how much Maskim had grown, even though he’d stayed as cute as ever. He was a bit shy and hesitant when we started the session, but before long, he warmed right up and was flashing that tiny-toothed smile left and right.

Playful One-Year Portraits

Along with plenty of playful portraits, we made sure to give Maskim the classic one-year-old experience with a cake smash. He had a great time celebrating his birthday in style!

Maskim’s joyful and curious nature really came through in his photos, but I also aimed to capture the special bond he has with his mom. Their closeness is inspiring and I feel blessed to have been able to help them celebrate that bond with beautiful photos to grace their walls.
