Greyson ~ 1 Year Session with Family Photos and Cake Smash

When you know that cake is coming, it’s pretty hard to be patient through a photoshoot. Sweet little Greyson was a few months over a year old when we did his session. As the saying goes, the days are long, but the years are so very short when it comes to little ones. Before Greyson’s parents knew it, it was time for his first birthday, and they didn’t have a session scheduled, but we got him in a quickly as possible. I couldn’t wait to see how much this little boy had grown over the past year since doing his sweet newborn session, which of course felt like just yesterday!

They opted for an in-studio photography session for this busy explorer so he wouldn’t be too distracted as little boys his age tend to be. But, he knew there was cake. He got a little cranky during the still shots – after all, why sit still when there’s exploring to do?! He quickly found his happy spot in Mom’s lap, and we still got quite a few good ones of this handsome stoic – his bright blue eyes are striking! What a cutie.

Although his session took place inside, we incorporated his love for the outdoors with a Gone Fishing-themed cake smash. His mom made an adorable mini cake with a string of fish hanging above, and as cute as it was, he couldn’t wait any longer. The cake and all of it blue icing were devoured in no time. By the look on his messy face, the cake was definitely worth the wait!

(Cake Smash Tip): I find most kids love the cakes their moms make more than the beautiful ones from the fancy bakeries. ;))
